Position Paper: European Aluminium Calls for an End to RoHS Exemptions 6(b), 6(b)-I, and 6(b)-II and the Creation of Exemption 6(b)-III
European Aluminium, urges the European Commission to phase out RoHS exemptions 6(b), 6(b)-I, and 6(b)-II at the earliest legally possible date. Beyond the well-documented risks to health and the environment, maintaining these exemptions poses significant threats to EU production, particularly following the publication of the 21st Adaptation to Technical Progress (ATP) of the CLP Regulation. To address unintentional lead content in aluminium casting alloys, European Aluminium calls for the immediate creation of a new exemption, 6(b)-III, with a reduced lead limit.
