European Aluminium urges Members of the European Parliament to support plenary amendments addressing two critical shortcomings for the aluminium sector: the post-consumer aluminium scrap loophole and the 50-tonne threshold for aluminium imports. These targeted changes are essential to ensure the CBAM Review better reconciles climate objectives with industrial competitiveness and provides effective protection against carbon leakage.

In a joint one-pager, European Aluminium and ACEA call for amending Article 5b in the CO₂ from Cars Regulation so that EU-produced low-carbon aluminium and low-carbon steel are both eligible under the material-credit mechanism, within a single, technology-neutral cap.
